    Hi I am looking for a cheap portable dvd player that can play dvd's and vcd and svcds. I know there are alot of expensive ones out there, but I figure I would just buy a laptop for those prices and just watch vcds or svcds. I see good prices for Lasonic, but are they good ?

    it may not be portable, but semi-portable. The Koss DVP2161x is cheap. You can find at your local Target Store for $89.99, The are about 5 different models
    DVP2161 Silver
    DVP2162 Blue
    DVP2163 NOT SURE...
    DVP2164 Orange w/flower
    DVP2165 NOT SURE...

    Note: it does not have a lcd screen

    There not different about the model number, the last number just a different color.

    It can play DVD/(x)VCD/(x)SVCD/CD/MP3/JPEG/MPEG.
    There is also a firmware to make it region free and macro vision free. Also, it can bi-past the FBI Warning screen.
