I am using PowerDVD (came with my Dell) to play store bought DVD's. Some play flawlessly (Matrix), however some have static in the sound (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon).
Any explanation for this? Haven't tried playing DVD+R yet as I am still figuring out how to do them.
Thanks.

is that happening only with the dvd, or can you play other sounds without the noise

Only with DVD. I can play music CD's, MP3's, etc... and it sounds great. I have only tried 3 DVD's, and TWO sound great, one has the static. When I play the same disc in my home dvd player - NO Static.
Hmmm, I am puzzled. -
I think the problem is the dvd disk, try playing it on another dvd player, to see if has the same noise
