  1. What sort of system do you need to get a svcd format file, i.e .mpeg file encoded in <10mins?

    i.e in like tmpgenc. Is encoding process like cpu dependant or ram dependant?

    There is not really a system you NEED but i suggest you have at LEAST a computer with 500Mhz and 64Mb RAM. If your comp is slower, it will also work, but SLOW like hell

    You dont state the length of the file which makes this an impossible question to answer.

    If you are talking about a full length (approx 90 min) movie, not possible with current processors.

    With my setup I can do vcd in just better than real time, SVCD would take longer. And I have a fairly high spec machine.
