What sort of system do you need to get a svcd format file, i.e .mpeg file encoded in <10mins?
i.e in like tmpgenc. Is encoding process like cpu dependant or ram dependant?

both...
There is not really a system you NEED but i suggest you have at LEAST a computer with 500Mhz and 64Mb RAM. If your comp is slower, it will also work, but SLOW like hellWanne earn something a couple of dollars?

With my setup I can do vcd in just better than real time, SVCD would take longer. And I have a fairly high spec machine.
