Hello everyone,
I've been trying to encode AVI files(divx and otherwise) into SVCD MPEG 2 files using Tmpgenc in conjunction with virtual Dub, with not a lot of luck. I've tried just about all the help FAQ's on here, but to no avail. I've just got no idea what settings I've done wrong, it could be one of a dozen different settings, I just dont know.
I have read in one of the FAQs that a program called DVD2SVCD cuts out most of the dirty work involved. Would I be better off using this program instead of tmpGENC? what the advantages of using DVD2SVCD instead?

DVD2VCD is just a collection of programs that can rip, frameserve and convert a dvd to vcd or SVCD. It still requires the use of TMPGEnc as the encoder (unless you have cce). This is for converting DVD's and you will still use TMPGEnc.

Look on the tools page under mpeg2 encoders. cce is not free but faster than TMPGEnc. Whether its better? well if you do a search on tmpgenc & cce you will find many forums arguing which is better.

I'm at my wits end, I've got about 20 gigs of avi's that i can only watch on my computer and not in the living room
