  1. I followed the instructions on this site for burning a MPEG1 file using Nero, but the resulting file was burned as a .DAT file, not MPEG.

    Any ideas??

    thanks

  4. i guess your talking about you made a vcd......correct?

well if u made a vcd then u can download a vcd player for your computer OR u can open up windows media player and load up the .dat file

if their is no program associated with the dat file then u can click on the dAT file and when it asks u what program to use to open the file with and select windows media player (it will probably be listed as "wmplayer")
if u do that everytime u click on the dat file it will open it up with media player

if u dont wanna do that like i mentioned earlier just open up windows media player then goto file then open then locate your folder that your dat file is in and in media types u probably need to change it to "all files" then click on your dat file.

if u have a standalone dvd player that is vcd compatible then just stick your vcd in the tray and press play

The easiest way I know to do this is:

1] copy the dat file from your VCD to the hard drive of your computer.
2] use TMPGenc an under "mpeg tools" go to "simple demux" and open the dat file. This will create two sepatae file, one video, one audio.
3] use BBmpeg and multiplex the two files back together.
4] presto, you have a mpg file again.
