My philips cdd4801 wont often burn in max speed 8x, for ex when i bruned i vcd it started of good in 8x but then i changed to 2x "because of the media or something" does anyone have any tips for me?

Okey im sorry
, my problem is that when try to burn cd's my recorder burns in 2x insted of 8x as its sopose to do. For ex, yester day i tried to burn a vcd the first 2 minutes it where recording in 8x but suddenly i changed and started burn i a slower speed (nero said i where because of the media)
