Help for a newb please.
All I'd like to do is be able to chop out parts of videos - to fit more on a CD, for instance - in various formats in a fool-proof manner. So, whether it's a .dat, .mpg, .avi, etc...I'd like to find a piece of software that will allow me to easily open the file, select the portions I want to crop and then just hit save to save them in the same format.
I've looked at VirtualDub, TMPGEnc, Premier...they all complicate the matter - at least as far as I can see. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time working with them.
Can anyone point me to something that will do what I want without me having to spend too much time with a learning curve? I apologize if this has been asked a lot, I've looked around at the FAQ and I'm sorry if I missed the answer.
Thank you.

Hi
The quickest way for you is to read the articles on this site about Vdub and TMPGEnc
These are you "basic" tools, the programs themselves archive most of what you want, and although I have used the word basic, they are far from basic in achievements.
Lets hear it for the authors of Virtual Dub and TMPGEnc.
