  1. When capturing with "Studio DC10plus", it never goes beyond the following:

    =============== ============= ======== ====
    Name(generated) FileSize Date Time
    =============== ============= ======== ====
    Video 2.avi 2.057.154.248 17-08-01 9:42
    Video 2_01.avi 2.057.162.504 17-08-01 9:42
    Video 2_02.avi 2.057.155.848 17-08-01 9:42
    Video 2_03.avi 2.056.582.472 17-08-01 9:42
    Video 2_04.avi 1.125.975.576 17-08-01 9:42
    Video 2.scn 112 17-08-01 9:42

    Info-example from "Video 2_03.avi" is:
    • 720 x 540, 24 bits
    • 23100 frames
    • 25,000 frames/sec
    • 2174 kB/sec
    • CAPCDC.DRV[16]
    • time = 15.23 minutes

Tested it for about 20 times. All the same

I know that it does cut files up during process to a maximum of 2Gb, but it always stops at roughly 8.7Gb

Nothing else is running. No screensaver, virus-software, ... nothing

My system is a AMD1000 133Mhz, 256Mb, IBM30Gb for Win98SE, IBM 60Gb as capturedrive (both DMA checked), ViperV770 Ultra 32Mb videocard. No more software then standard Win98SE and the DC10+ software like "Studio DC10plus".

    No shared IRQ troubles.
    Tried all relevant patches.

I use software version 1.06 (the latest).

As stated in the support-files at http://www.pinnaclesys.com or http://www.pinnaclesys.de it can capture more then 4Gb by cutting the capture up to 2Gb files.

My findings are that it doesn't capture more then 1.10 hours.

Other buggy thing is that it doesn't matter if i capture from VHS (composite) or from Hi-8(S-Video), there are always diagonal lines showing. They are not interlaced-lines, but much wider.
An picture-example of this can be found at: http://www.consultit.nl/diagonal.jpg
In the top-right of the picture it's clear which lines i mean.

I have tried numerous settings, but nothing works. Even capturing at 352x288 PAL comes with the same result.

Anyone knows a solution ar has the same trouble?

  2. It sounds like the dreaded 71 minute bug. The Window's driver cant go beyond 71 minutes. Its a counter problem.

On my system at 320x240 I get 1 hour, 11 minutes, 34 seconds.

Try AVI_IO or VirtualDub. They detect when this pops up and "Resets" the card. You loose about 2 to 4 frames but better than the whold thing.

I am not sure if the Linux driver has this bug also.

    Good luck

f it is the 71 minute bug problem your experiencing, Virtual Dub will also crash on you. For a brief description of the problem, go to the Virtual Dub site and look under the Capturing Documentation section. I don't know if AVI_IO suffers from this problem.

    Best regards.

  4. 71 minute bug, ... nothing surprises me anymore lately. Why does it always come up when one buys the card

Anyway, i would really like capture for atleast 3 hours. Any manipulation which has some kind of run around to solve the 71 minute bug? Something like a script or whatever.

Also: Anybody knows how to get rid of the (best at top-right) diagonal lines found at http://www.consultit.nl/diagonal.jpg
They come up in every frame.

  5. I had the same problem capturing with my dc30+ in virtual dub. Then I downloaded FreeVCR from this site and it works fine. Try it!

  7. I like AVI _IO better than VirtualDub getting past the 71 minute bug. AVI_IO is super easy to set and have recorded shows that stretch up to three hours since I have dumped VHS. Simply set the reset and number of frame before reset and that all there is. It also can be set for splitting on file size and even has a timer for shows!

What ever works for you good luck!

    Midnight

PS: I heard that the guy who did AVI_Io also helped on the Studio software to get past the 2gb barrier. But not confirmed.

Think you're right. He's called Markus Zingg, from the top of my head.

About the 71-minutes bug: got the tip that you can change the capture time in Studio to 0 (zero) and that should do the trick.
Have not been able to test it though.
