  1. Is there a guide for coverting a downloaded AVI to a quality VCD. I download a 29 FPS AVI file and used VIrtual dub to capture, TMPGNE to encode and VCD easy to Burn but the quality was poor. I am not highly knowledgeable and need a basic guide to walk me through and provide some background on the topic. Anyone's help would be appreciated

  4. This is something I did a couple of years ago. If you read through I take .avi and convert to vcd mpeg1. The software has changed over the years and I haven't done the conversion in a while, but it should help.

virtualdub to capture? do you mean virtualdub to convert the audio to wav or?

You could try SVCD/CVD if your source is good enough, garbage in - garbage out.
