I tried to save the audio to a wave file in virtualDub under full processing mode, however, everytime I try to save it I get the error message ACM reported error on audio decompress (200)?

How would it be fixed? Please and thank you.

  2. You have an audio format that vdub doesn't like. First, open the avi in vdub and take a look at file->file properties. This should help you find out what kind of audio stream you have. Next, save out the audio as usual but use direct stream copy rather than full processing mode. You can now convert this to wav or whatever you need. Try searching the forums for more help once you have done this.

If you have a decompression problem, then you wont be able to play it, not alone convert it. However some codec's will sometimes let you play things but not convert. Make sure you have the correct codec's, but also make sure when you save the WAV you also convert to uncompressed.

Vdub only gives that error on bad files or missing codec's

Audio > Compression > None PCM
Audio > Conversion > 44.1Khz (If your going to use it for VCD)
    SAVE WAV

But don't do anything until you scanned for junk frames, as a junk frame can also stop this process dead.

If this audio is AC3, Vdub will handle it with no problems, as will TMPGEnc without the need to first save the audio out, again you should have the AC3 codec.

Other times you may need to use Vdub AC3, I have also seen people get this error when they have a bunch of MP3 codec's, but still have some missing like Ogg Vorbis

Ok thanks for all the help. I installed the nimo codec pack and the Divx 5 program. For virtualdub I am able to save the sound in direct stream copy, however, not full processing mode because I get the, ACM reported error on audio decompress (200), error message. Then I need to convert the sound and what program would be used or does more codec programs need to be installed? Please and thank you.

    Vdub AC3 "Should" have worked.

If it is AC3 use headac3he (Rename .ac3 and convert to .wav)

Will it load into www.goldwave.com ?
