I have some mpeg files on 700 meg cds that are about 730 megs. I assumed they were overburned to make them fit. They play ok so the files seem to be good.

My problem is that I want to move them over to my hard drive to cut the commericals out and encode them as vcds. But when I try to copy them over, the copy dialog box gets struck at the end and says can't read media.

My guess is that it freaks out when it crosses the 700 meg line.

How can I copy these files to my hard drive? Is there a program that will do this or some trick? Or am I just screwed?

I am running win98SE and have a newer centrope (??) cdrw drive with Nero 5. Thanks!

  2. I have basically the same problem, but it seems to happen only on the cheaper(non-labeled) cd-rs. Unfortunately, I have ~200 movies on these disks, and they won't copy back to the HDD. What type of disks are you using?
    Sometimes, ya just gotta.....umm, what's the word........FART???

Have you tried programs like iso buster to see if it could read the file?

There is an extract to the hd function.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  4. Another option is VCD gear to extract the mpeg.

Using ISO Buster I was able to copy the files over and edit them. Thanks for the suggestion!
