I need help finding software to create DVDs.

    Here's my problem.

I have video that is captured to DVD format (720x480 48K audio)

I want to use MPEG or DolbyDigital audio to save space.

    MyDVD makes PCM audio... OUT
Ulead software makes PCM audio... OUT
DVDit PE makes DD audio but I have sync problems... Strike
Studio 8 allows MPEG audio, but it re-encodes the video... Strike

I can't seem to make DD audio with BSweet... BALL

I want to use my MPEGs AS-IS
    I want Compressed Audio
I want simple menu with out re-encodeing ALL the video.

    Please Help!

BeSweet can output mpeg-1 layer 2 stereo audio that should be 100% DVD-V compatible.

Yea, I've been able to do that, but I thought it was supposed to create DolbyDigital Audio too.

    is this not correct?

Mpeg audio is more compatible and since you only want 2-channel sound it's not like mpeg audio can't do that as is.

    That's true,

My MPEG files already had compatable 48K MP2 audio.

My Main complaint is i have not found any software that will take my MPEG AS-IS, create a VOB file from it and burn it to disk.

I'd like menus, but I don't want to re-encode my entire MPEG simply to add menus. (a la Studio 8 )

  6. Dazzle DVD complete will do what you want.
Warning though, it is buggy. I have two Pc's. It runs fine on one and crashes on the other!

    Good Luck.

P.S. I thought ULEAD products would also do .mp2 audio?

  7. DVDMaestro should do all what you want. Not sure where you would et it these days, as they were sold to Apple who then stopped making it. It is VERY powerful !

"Discs containing 525/60 video (NTSC) must use PCM or Dolby Digital on at least one track", http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.6.2

So I'm not sure if a ntsc dvd with ONLY mpeg1 audio is a standard dvd...but it will probably work on all Players.

According to all I have read a NTSC DVD with only mpeg 1 layer 2 audio is a non-standard DVD. However, I don't believe DVD players are or will be designed to enforce the DVD standards and reject DVDs with mpeg 1 layer 2 audio. Bottom line, IMHO if the DVD Player will paly a VCD it will play a DVD with mpeg 1 layer 2 audio.

Ulead DVDWS will output mpeg 1 layer 2, PCM, and author ac3. I use Besweet to transcode the wav file to Dolby digital and mux the video (mv2) and the ac3 file with TMPGEnc. DVDWS will accept the mpeg 2 file. Make sure you are running v1.2 or 1.3. and have do not convert files checked. V1.3 accepts elemental streams but NOT ac3.

You can get V1.3 update patch here http://www.adstech.com/support/downloads/drivers/drivers.asp?os=Windows&product_id=USBAV-700
