  1. I use dvd2svcd 1.02 - Settings:
    - AMD 1 gHz
    - dvd: The Matrix.
    - Svcd-subtitles: 2. (dutch & english)

After a few hours video encoding the result was:
    13% (12 hours to go)

Cinema without dvd2svcd would take only 3 hours or so to encode.

Is it usual that dvd2svcd is so slow or is there a solution or setting to speed up the encoding time?

    Please let me know.

  2. hi!
Perhaps because DVD2SVCD uses 5 times VBR in default setting?

    well, who knows
DVD2SVCD crashed on me... so I gave up..

    my old method
(smartripper, DVD2AVI to just framserve,Vob2Audio for the audio, TMPenc to encode/cut, VCD imager to make the bins) only takes like 10-12 hours computer time anyways... and I can control everything...

I got every program the DVD2SVCD said to use, and set it up... and when it was working on the audio it gave me a "floating point error"... I have an Athalon 1GZ with 256 ram, but using WinME.. (can't wait until XP).. I suspect it was because of ME... don't want to use WIN2K, even tho I use it on another machine, because of drivers, multimedia, DirectX, etc.. oh, and dos support for older programs that use hardware like modems, etc

I tried to use DVDX using the MPG2 version, and crashed too... soo I am back to my old method (which works quite well)...

  4. Thanks for the replies but I have to add this:

    VBR times: 4
    Ram: 392 mb.

The same settings using just Cinema is 3 times faster.
But I want the subtitles ...

    Regards,
