  1. I have a 106 minute movie that i want to put on a single cd
    it's:
    720x320 pixels
    divx3.11 low motion
    29,97fps
    48khz audio

I want to place this on a single 80min cd with the highest possible quality
my dvd player can support almost any format (svcd, xsvcd, cvd, etc.)

    what path should i take????

oh, and btw, when i try to make an svcd, the bitrate would end up being around 900kbps, which sounds awfully low, isn't the minimun supposed to be like 1150 or 1600 or something like that?

  2. You are trying to stuff 10 pounds in a 5 pound bag.

Best bet would be VCD with Variable bitrate, try avg 900 min 500 max 1200, or thereabouts. You may need to add smoothing filters, maybe try Kwag's templates.

2-disk SVCD or CVD would give better quality.

  3. If you put audio at 44100Hz, 96 or 64kb/s, then you can use an average of 900 or 950 avg video bitrate.

  4. Quick ?,same subject.I was able to put a vcd on one 80min cd,but are you able to put svcd on one cd?

  5. Course you can - just lower the bitrate (you might end up making XSVCD). You can fit 3 hours on 1 CD if you want but the quality will be crap.

  6. Cool, so what programs do you use to joint it, and compress?I try with tmpg.to joint and screws up ,and tmpg gives me error when I try to compress.Cant open, or unsupported.

I'd try one of "Kwag's" templates at http://www.kvcd.net/dvd-models.html. He has a 704 X 480 one CD 120 minute XVCD template (top line on page.)

As far as I know you don't have to join or compress anything to fit a svcd on 1 cd. I mean, just take the original video file (divx?) and encode it using lower bitrate. You can check with FitCd or some program like this how low you have to take the bitrate to fit the thing in 1 cd. Or you can just encode with any bitrate, see how big the svcd file is and try again with lower bitrate until it fits.
