  1. ok i downloaded an MPEG file,i wanna make a vcd.
when i try to convert it in TMPGEnc it's not wanting to work...says its gonna take 14 hours lol. and the file size is only 135mb.
so i tried loadin the the mpeg file in VirtualDub but i got an error saying it dont suport asf. its not an asf file tho,its an mpeg.
so i tried loading it in virtualdub 1.3C and im gettin this error...

"Couldnt locate decompressor for format MP43 (microsoft high-speed MPEG-4 V3)"

any suggestions how i get this to convert?

I'd guess it is no MPEG after all. What does Gspot say about it?

  3. For the record, you can create ASF movies in Windows Movie Maker and then simply rename them to "whatever.mpg" and nobody would be the wiser-- until you get into a situation like you have. I rarely trust files I download... lots of amazingly non-compliant stuff floating around.

I have found a cure for this. To save me typing it out again have a look at my post in newbie conversions. MP43 is actually the same as Divx3
