  1. I've been using Premiere for a while, but was wondering, is it the BEST? Like, Photoshop is considered the BEST in image editing, what about Premiere? Is it the BEST in video editing? Or is there better? Whats the BEST in video editing?

The widely considered best would come from AVID. And starting prices are in the thousands of dollars. Cheapest solution from them is AVID Xpress DV (don't know the retail price exactly). Available for Mac and x86 windows platforms. Premiere is no slouch, and has a wide user base. Final Cut pro for Mac is also considered a very good performer.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

I've used Premire and Final Cut Pro. As for options I believe that FCP can do more, but Premire is easier to learn fluently.

I have use both Adobe Premiere and Ulead Media Studio Pro. I like Media Studio Pro better, it is easier to use and exports to mpeg cleaner.

Umm, what? Ulead uses ligos to encode mpeg and ligos isn't what I would consider a high quality encoder... The latest version of Premiere now ships with the mainconcept encoder, but best of all you can use avisynth to frameserve to a top notch encoder like TMPGenc or CCE (the mainconcept encoder is making a name for itself now too).

Oh, a lot of people recommend Sound Forge's Vegas Video... It is cheaper than premiere, but it has better sound processing. I process audio separately so that's not a big concern, but it all depends on how you do your editing. What is "best" depends on what your needs are. If you don't have any needs that premiere isn't fulfulling you might not want to worry about it.

Oh O better phone Adobe and complain ........

Not at home 'puter right now - all from memory

On the audio time line there will be a little 'triangle' press it to expand the audio window. FOR FADE IN : Select the portion of sound you would like at max level then select the beginning and drag the little red box to the bottom - tada - fade in. A red line will angle up to the first red box you made.

Umm... All I know is when I capture to an uncompressed AVI, then let Media Studio output it to a MPEG2 from the timeline. I get a clear video... No ghosting, no blocks, and best of all the sound is ALWAYS in sync with the video. All I have to do is choose the resolution, and bitrate.

The best part is... I don't have to go to a 3rd party program to do it.

So to me, this gives it a step up on the other ways in doing it. (IMHO)

You can fade in/out. Just click on the little right-hand arrow on the left panel of your audio track and make it point downward. The audio wave profile will be displayed. Adjust the gain level by assigning vertices to adjust how the audio gain level should be adjusted versus timeline. Hope this helps. This is very handy when it comes to mixing 2 tracks.

I would like to try Avid or SF Vegas Video someday. TechTV recommended Vegas Video 3.o though.
