  1. trying to get my .avi file "coded" with DivX codec so I can use TMPGE to convert to MPEG. What do I need to do specifically with the DivX PRo program to make this possible?

  2. Have you tried using the TMPGEnc wizard and just re-encode your original AVI file? It should take a straight AVI and put it out in whatever MPEG format you choose.

If you are missing codecs to read or view your AVI, try downloading the NIMO codec pack from http://www.btinternet.com/~nimosiro/ Load it using the basic option.

    Good Luck.

can you play the avi in windows media player? if so, then you don't need to do anything else in order to convert it.
try the Nimo codec pack as Homer says if you can't play the file.
if that doesn't work, load the file in virtual dub, and under file-->file properties, and see what codec it needs.
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!
