I've been trying today to backup the remastered R1 edition of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I've tried both DVD2One and IC7 and both have failed. This disc has been ripped OK and plays back fine from the hard drive.

With DVD2One, the timing estimate on the encode goes berzerk and it fails to stop encoding at the 4.36gb mark. With IC7, the encoding just stops at around the midway point. No error message, the application just closes.

I think the problem is occurring due to the 'intermission' part of the film, where the screen goes completely blank and the music is played for a few minutes. The timing of the IC7 failure certainly seems to be around that point.

Has anybody else had this problem and found a way to fix it? There is a similar thing right before the start of the movie, but it's in it's own chapter so I've been able to remove it (hence me asking how to delete chapter earlier today). However the middle section has the opening part of the second act of the film within the same chapter as the blank screen/music.

Any ideas folks?
