    Hi,

I split a .avi movie in half with virtualDub and when I joined it together it was off. How do I get it to join together with virtualDub to where it will be the same before I split it? I tried to go up and down frames to make it work, however, I can not seem to catch the right frame and also it seems like ever time I do that with the same frame it changes. Or is there a different program that would do that if virtualDub does not?

    Please help? Thank you!

Before you mark the start or end, you should jump to the nearest keyframe, forward for the end and backwards for the start.

Marking at keyframes is the closest you get. Most people who provide 2 files, always start part 2 with a little of the end of part 1.

If the AVI has keyframes every 10, then fine... But every 300 might be a problem

As i understand you question, you have an AVI, you've split into 2 parts
and now you want to join them 2 parts back together again.

Startup Vdub, select file, select you AVI part 1 wait for VDub to load it, then goto file again select APPEND AVI SEGMENT, select AVI PART 2 make sure BOTH VIDEO AND AUDIO are set to DIRECT STREAM COPY, goto save.avi in the file TAB, then choose a location to save it to, then wait untill it's finshed.

    Hope this can help ya

Thanks for all your help KingJohn and marvel2020.

I figured out how to join .avi marvel2020 after spliting them, however, I wanted to know if there was a way I could get the to join the exact same way they where before I split them. I apologize for not being very clear.

I guess that I can not do that with virtualDub though? Is there a better splitting program that will do that? Please and thank you.

Some people post without reading "when I joined it together"

You would need a program that inserts extra frames, like Adobe premier, or Ulead Media Studio.

Or use full processing mode, and key frames every 1
