  1. hello - i have downloaded alot of cool thx and dolby trailers in VOB format and would now like to burn those to dvd using either idvd or dvd studio pro. however, both dvd studio pro and idvd dont seem to support this format.

another strange thing is that whenever i play the vob files using quicktime i only get video but no audio.

can anybody help me with this ? many thanks in advance !

  2. You won't get audio when playing vob files in QT becaue the mpeg-2 playback component of QT will not decode AC-3 audio. iDVD only accepts DV stream movies. DVDSP won't accept the VOB because it doesn't accept muxed streams (a file with audio and video together). To burn the VOB back to DVD using DVDSP:

    1. Demux the VOB file (split into seperate audio and video) using a program called bbdemux. You can get it from versiontracker.com. This will give you two files (.m1v and .ac3).
    2. Sometimes the video file (.m1v) will not import into DVDSP; it will say "Bad Format". When this happens, the video file needs to be run through a program called MPEGAppend to fix the timecode. After that, it will import into DVDSP just fine. You can get a 7-day trial version of MPEGAppend for OSX here: http://homepage.mac.com/DVD_SP_Helper/Commerical/MAOSuX.html

    3. Now just import and assemble everything into DVDSP and burn your DVD.
