When you are ready to capture, select Video-->Filters-->Add. Select the Sharpen filter. Select configure. Although it will not make you capture perfect, it will increase its sharpness somewhat.

Also, select Video-->Source. This box allows you to configure saturation and hue for your colors, but can also alter brightness and contrast.

actually most filters should be applied post-cat, noy during cap. For color, go into video/source and try and find the analog adjustments for your card and boost saturation by about 5% or so. It helps to "chotochrome" the image and make it more pleasing in terms of colors. It also helps since mpeg compression often wahes out color.

I use the msharpen filter since it's less hars than the standard sharpen filter. All sharening filters in vdub need to be run on progressive images, so if you are capturing at 480 or greater lines then you need to use a viewfields before msharpen and an unviewfields before the end of your filter list.
