easy to use and still good quality is dvdit pro .. not a lot you can do wrong with it ...

easest to use and has premade menu templates and graphics would be impression pro (also supports ac3, motion menu's and such) , a very good authoring program ..

easiest to use if you want a lot more control, syncing to time code, subtitles and customized menu creation and such and dont mind making your own menu's in photoshop is maestro ...

  5. For ease of use, i prefer SrpuceUp. But it's not sold anymore. There is a version (16110 i believe) around

simply the best (for easy use)

I purchased Pinnacle Studio 8 about 3 weeks back. I am using it to convert my home videos from DV tapes to DVDs so that I can play back a specific section of the home video and also enjoy the superior quality of digital recording of DV cams and DVD.

I had a few problems and a major bug. The Tech Support of Pinnacle sucks, but the forum (they call it webboard) is wonderful. I got a workaround from one of the users and I am very happy.

The rendering quality seems to be good, but very very slow......it takes me 16 hours to render a full DVD (about 54 minutes of video) on my PC that is P-III, 733Mhz, 384MB RAM, 7200rpm 80GB Hard drive. But, thats Ok as I fire the job in the night and then pick up the DVD image when I come back from work the next day.

Burning to DVD on a DVD+R drive takes 1 hr.

these kind of questions are subjective.
    "what's the best cpu "
    "what's the best os "
"what's the best dvd writer "
    "what's the best piece of pu**y "

you have to try them out and see for yourself. i guarantee that the best one for you want be any answer given.

I've used Ulead DVD Movie Factory. It is pretty simple. I don't usually create menus, just use it to do straight burns.

  10. how is the pinnacle Studio 8 to capture analog???
I need one that is capable of capturing a 6hr tape (SLP) and not have audio out of synch problem (had in the past with other capture card) and have better then 352x240 (had Dazzle DVC).

aznguy: please make a new topic in the capture forum if you want to discuss capturing.

  12. This thread is really bizarre.

aznguy asks for the best, price no object, not indicating whether it is for consumer level or professional use. Asking for the best usually indicates it's not what one should get yet, because it's too simplistic a request. He needs to do a little research first, and clarify his requirements, and price range. Somehow I don't think he's ready to spend $20,000 or more

He then asks for the most powerful and easiest to use, usually contradictory requirements.

He then proceeds to explain he wants to capture a 6 hour SLP video (so good quality is not needed), indicating that he had to capture using Dazzle DVC at 352X240. If his PC can't handle larger resolutions in MPEG2, he's got bigger issues than authoring software.

RECOMMENDATION: He should get a new PC, a newer Dazzle DVC setup for capture, Ulead DVD workshop for authoring, and capture the 6 hour video in 1 hour sections. Did he plan on putting a 6 hour tape onto one DVD?
