ok i have ripped the dvd to hard drive its now 5.3 gig
what i need to know what sw to use to reduce these files
have all the sw but wat order to use them have no problem coping I have coppied from satellite and burnt to dvd excellent quality (mpeg 2)
using tmpeg dvd2avi ect
but now trying to get a dvd to dvd just need to know how to reduce the file size just say the sw and what order I will sort the rest
sorry if this has been asked b4 but have got confuzed with all the info

I find that tmpgenc allows you to vary the bitrate, and thus control the final filesize.
If you have the ripped DVD files in a folder, TMPGENC will work.
For best results (but much slower), I use 2-pass, with the AVERAGE bitrate set, so it fits on 1 DVD-R, and the bottom bitrate set to 2000 and the top to 7000.

First when Ripping it leave Angle1 on only.
Using IfOedit, you could strip out audio/subtitles you do not need.
Maybe you could get it down to 4.6GB

You don't need to do every file separately, nor do you have to strip out stuff, if you RIP the DVD with CLAD.
CLAD has its own demuxing tool (DVD2AVI) built in, and will create a file which can be processed by TMPGENC, which in turn will allow you to regulate the output size.
