I am trying to convert my 8mm tapes to view on my DVD player. I am relatively inexperienced in this arena. I purchased the Dazzle 80 and realized that was mistake one. They tried to get me to purchase the DVC 200, but after reading the comments on this site, I realize that could have been mistake two. If I understand correctly, there are three components (Capture, Edit, and Burn). What are the best devices to use to get the same quality on my DVD as if the CAMCorder was connected directly? I have Nero 5.5 (I think that could address the "Burn" piece. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What I use to do exactly what you are trying to do is the following.
1. I capture with a Canopus ADVC-1394 using Vegas Video 3.0 (works great, 2+hours of capture per tape and I might have 1-2 dropped frames if that)
2. Edit the footage with Vegas Video 3.0
3. Encode the footage with Vegas Video 3.0 (MainConcept) using their DVD template (About 5-7 hours for 2 hours of footage)
4. I use ULead DVD factory to burn the DVD. I don't usually bother with menus and stuff so all I use it for is to burn the DVD.
The results are exaxt duplicates of the 8mm tapes played in my camcorder. Couldn't be happier.
