I have been capturing TV for a while using winDVR (capture mpeg-1 format). I then import these files into adobe premiere.

    Now the problem:

When i import into premiere the image quality degrades quite a bit. The frames look like they have had low quality JPEG/MJPEG compression done to them. Comparing to the same frame viewed in winDVD which looks as good as ever. Compare these bitmaps, http://www.geocities.com/pyed_p1per/premiere.bmp captured from adobe premiere, and http://www.geocities.com/pyed_p1per/windvd.bmp captured from winDVD (each about 500k sorry).

It has something to do with the way premiere imports mpeg. Is there any way that I can use the software modules from winDVD to import the video to premiere.

OK i've done a little research now:

For some reason if I import winDVR captured mpeg to premiere and click properties is says that the pixel depth is 0, which is impossible.
Then I found a program MpegMarvel. It imports mpeg a different way to what the standard premiere plugin does. The picture quality is PERFECT. The pixel depth now says 32bits (which i presume what it should be). The only trouble with mpegmarvel, is that it costs about US$300 and i'm a poor student.

This brings me to my next question, Does anybody know any other mpeg importing plugins for adobe premiere?
