  1. Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I'm trying to import an image (not a video) of my laptop screen into CS3. I'm trying to make a PAL Widescreen DVD that can be played on a TV.
All I want is a high quality image that I can mess around with in CS3. I want to be able to zoom in, look at certain areas of the image, etc. At the moment here's what I've been trying:
First I set my laptop resolution to 800x600 and press "Prt Sc" (Print Screen). I paste the image into Photoshop and save it as you see below (a good quality image):

Next, I open a new project in Adobe Premiere CS3 with the following settings:

After I import the image (without rendering my work area) my Premiere CS3 screen looks like this (notice the loss of quality between the images):

After I render my work area my Premiere CS3 screen looks like this (still loss of quality between images):

So, I start with a high quality image that I can zoom in and still see it, but once I import it into Premiere CS3 I end up with a low quality image that I can't zoom in and still see it clearly.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Any suggestions what I could try?

    Thanks

Is your project 800x600? I would guess not. That is a quickie preview of 800x600 smashed down to 720x480.

    Thanks for the reply.
I think that's what my problem could be. I think DV PAL is 720 x 576, so that would mean my project window is 720x576, right? So, am I trying to fit a 800x600 image into a 720x576 project window? Am I right so far in what I say? If so, any ideas how to get a GOOD quality result into the project window?

That is true. 800x600 to 720x576 and with slight blurring from the filtering.

You have another problem if this will be viewed on a TV. Overscan will chop all four sides from your capture.

Capture full screen resolution into Photoshop and then use Photshop to step "zoom" or crop to the essential information. Type needs to appear much larger on a TV to be seen at viewing distance. Best to experiment with creative wide to essential tight informmation that you are trying to show and view the result on the worse TV you expect the viewer to use.
