  1. Can anyone please help. I am converting divx movies to mpeg2 with virtual dub and tmpge. I then burn to dvdr with ulead dvd movie factory. These play fine in stand alone dvd players but when I play them on playstation 2 there is sound but no picture.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

  2. I don't think you can play any SVCD or VCDs on PS2.

  3. But I'm not encoding to svcd or vcd. I encode to mpeg2 on dvdr media. Also the fact that Playstation 2 can play the sound surely means it recognises the disc. I have read that there should not be a problem, so I figure I'm doing something wrong. Help, I am still very new to all this.

  4. I use TMPGEnc using the DVD template to encode vcd and svcd's to mpeg2. Then use DVD Complete to create menus and extras and tell it to create a dvd-image. Then I use Prassi PrimoDVD to test and burn. Doing all this makes the dvd work on almost every standalone dvd player and it also works on Playstation 2 and Xbox without mod chips.

  5. ok well all this is new to me because everywhere I read PS2 doesn't play 'em...I have one question though do you really need DVD Complete to make it work? If so where can I download this at...thanks!

  6. I have one of the newer Playstation 2's and it reads dvd-r's just fine. My friend has one of the first Playstation 2's and it won't read dvd-r's. Maybe different chipset or something in it that makes it read it....Don't look on a website for DVD Complete. I have done like 2 dvd-r's with DVDit PE and they work on mine. I don't think it matters what you author it with, as long as you get the ifo's correct.

  8. You need a dvd-burner......maybe a modchip might help play cd-r's....With the dvd-r's i can get 2 movies on one disc. Don't think there's any way for vob and ifo files on cdr. Sorry couldn't help anymore.
