When I tried to rip a dvd video with smart ripper, I got a message that said "SOME FILES ARE LOCKED". What does this message mean? And is there a way around this? My last question is: Is it possible to copy the disc directly instead of ripping it?

Try playing the movie for a minute or so in a software DVD Player. That should unlock the files.
No, a DVD cannot be copied without being ripped, unless it is a DVD-R, etc. you are trying to copy -
For some unknown reason (to me)...This happens occasionally.
I usually re-insert the movie, or re-start smartripper.
You can also try playing the movie too as stated previously
After those things, you should be fine
