  1. Hi

I'm burning DVDRs on a Pioneer 104 and playing back on a Pioneer 646.

The problem is that the video (not the sound) freezes for about a second maybe about 5 or 6 times during the disk. It always happens in the same places when played on the Pioneer 646 set-top but plays perfectly in the PCs DVD-ROM (an LG8160).

From reading forums I thought it must be a media problem as I was using fairly cheap DVDRs. But now I've tried with Memorex and Verbatim DVDR and I´m still getting the same problem (and the pauses are on the same places on the different disks).

    The programs I´m using are:

Adobe Premiere 6.0 to capture and edit DV footage
    Encoding to MPEG with TMPGenc
    Authored with SpruceUp
Burned to DVD with PrassiDVD2.0 or Nero 5.5.8.0

Any suggestions where I should look next?

    Thanks

  2. Have you viewed your DVD movie through your authoring software (if possible) before you burn a disk?
Have you viewed the MPG file that TMPGenc has created?
If they look fine with no freezes then it might be Spruceup not creating quality VOB files.
You could try Ulead's DVD Workshop trial or DVD Movie Factory trial. Both will work for 30 days for free.
Good luck with getting things worked out.

  3. Got rid of the freezes . Seems to have been SpruceUp not creating good VOB files.

Using the free trial of DVD Movie Factory to author from the same MPEG files there were no freezes at all. I don't think I like Movie Factory all that much though... but that's a different issue.

    Thanks again for the help
