  1. Hi! Newbie here!

I just encoded my first svcd. I can play it on my computer with PowerDVD and the video and sound work fine. I put it in my standalone dvd player and the video works fine but I have no sound! Please help!

    Thanks in advance!

  2. dump that player. I have one and it just sucks. No idea how it got rated so high.

Your audio problem is probably to do with how you encoded the file. What exactly did you do? (ie what steps).

However, every svcd I've encoded on it has play back problems - mostly video, where it can't keep up. It's picky on media and burn rate

I've also had a Panasonic RV31 - excellent VCD and XVCD playback but doesn't do svcd (it kinda does if you play with the headers but... thats hit and miss).

My pioneer dv343 is the best player i've had to date - plays EVERYTHING. Same videos that the rca has problems with, play flawlessly on the 343.

    I just ordered a C503D pioneer - which is basically a 343 but 5 disc changer.

Supposedly the new 353 replacement (single disc) for the 343 is good and can be had on the cheap $119 on price grabber.

Actually, I figured out what my problem was.

We have a REALLY crappy tv. No audio connections at all. So we have to switch the stereo back and forth between the dvd player and the vcr, depending on what we are doing. I had forgotten that I needed to switch the connection to the dvd player. Needless to say my hubby got a good laugh.

Thank you! (And yeah, we need a different dvd player. But I think a new tv will come first. )

    Thanks again!
