  1. I hope this hasn't been answered bere before but a quick forum search found nothing.

Can I frameserve from VirtualDub to DVD2SVCD? I tried it last night but got nothing going into DVD2SVCD. I selected a frameserve filename in the conversion tab but nothing showed up for show length, aspect ration, etc. Of course this was my first effort at frameserving and I may have not followed the guides exactly.

    TIA

  2. DVD2SVCD comes with VFAPI if you don't already have it. Make sure it is installed properly with the various BAT and INF files contained in it's directory. VFAPI is a great way to frameserve VDR to DVD2SVCD

    1) Use Virtual Dub to create a VDR file.

    2) Use VFAPI to wrap the VDR file into a pseudo "AVI" file WITH SOUND!

    3) open the "AVI" file in DVD2SVCD hit the GO button and check the preview pane and if you see the picture [might have to hit "new frame" a couple of times if your video has all black scenes in it]; you're all set

note: make sure the frameserve from VirtualDub is running while DVD2SVCD is running, you can't close Vdub just because an "AVI" file was created, it still needs a source for it to read from.

note: don't know if it's just me [no it's not just checked doom9's CCE and DVD2SVCD boards and couple people in same situation] but going this route and encoding with CCE is not a very good idea sometimes you get all BLACK video with sound sometimes you don't, from my experience TMPGEnc is the preferred encoder if you are going to frameserve to DVD2SVCD. I eventually gave up trying to figure out how to eliminate the ALL BLACK video phenomenon from frameserves to DVD2SVCD w/CCE as the encoder and converted all partitions to NTFS
