  1. I'm new to this DVD-Writer thing, I need some expert advice on what to look for in a DVD-Writer before I go ahead and purchase one. Like with CD-Writers, you had to look for one's capable of doing exact 1:1 copies and be able to write raw data to produce exact duplicates.

Are there combo DVD Writers, which can write both CDs and DVDs as well as act as a normal DVD/CD-ROM drive?

    I'm interested is user advice.

    Regards.

the first few tracks, pits, sectors or whatever you choose to call it, of a dvd contain the key. all dvd -r/w and +r/w media have this first bit of info preburned by the manufacturor with all 0's(number not letter). so you can make a perfect copy except for a few bytes of important info----THE KEY. believe me, unless it's a production error(extremely unlikely) no company would never dare release a blank with these first sectors unburned.

  4. Would it be possible to rip the movies (like when you're doing a dvd to vcd conversion) and then burn the movie back to dvd+r?

You would lose all the menus and stuff, but still have the high quality digital film, right? That way I could edit the movies with adobe premiere and add/remove stuff. Like modify the matrix so that every time neo opens his mouth he says "SPAM!"

    Or am I on crack?
