Pioneer DV-444 SVCD problems, solved in DV-454?

My Pioneer DV-444 has troubles playing back CERTAIN svcds. Mostly svcds that are on 2 discs. It has something to do with teh bitrate being under 1200 and than mpeg anomalies and freezeframes start to occur. I have tried every medium and every speed setting so that's not teh problem, they also work fine on my friends 535.

Nos I was wondering if anyone happens to know whether these problems have been solved by the DV-454? And does the dv-444 outperform the 454 when playing back regular dvd's?
