  1. Jerky video, audio out of synch on standalone dvd which plays vcd? I am using tmpg and tried every setting i have found to resolve this problem and used them on several avi's with no better quality. My system is a compaq deskpro en 6450 (450+ mhz) with 192 mb and 60 gb harddrive with a standard 12x cd rom and also a cdwriter 128ie burner burning at the slowest speed that i can can and everytime i play them on the computer they play fine but on the standalone dvd player they are jerky every once in a while and slightly fuzzy all the time. what should i set tmpg settings to for these problems to be resolved.

  2. You post in the DVD players forum but don't actually say which make/model of DVD player you have!

If the discs play fine on the PC it may or may not be a problem with encoding. Are you sure your player supports CDR/CDRW media. Have you tried different media brands and/or burning speeds. All these can affect play on standalone DVD players.

Find the DVD players link on the left of the page and look to see if yours is listed. If so there will probably be comments from other owners regarding it (S)VCD capabilities.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Have you looked here:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=1121&Search=Search&#comments

It seems some people have had more succes than others.

All I can suggest is that when encoding with TmpGenc, load the appropriate VCD template and don't change anything, then encode. Use the resulting mpg file with several brands of CDR(W) till you find one that works. I know this sounds expensive and time consuming but I used to own a samsung player (511) and it would only play VCD's on some brands of CDRW (Used mostly TDK). Others would skip, have audio probs or refuse to start. It seems this player is an improvement in this are but still has issues with media compatibility.

Also would suggest burning at no more than 4x until you have got things sorted!

Sorry I couldn't offer anything more substantial.
