I having problems importing a movie in to Scenaries, when trying it says
Info 0 file(s) accepted, 1 file(s) rejected
Here are the tech info on the mpeg:
PAL, 704x576
25fps interlaced, progressive frame
Widescreen, Anamorphic 16:9
Av. Bitrate 3.8Mb/s +/- 500Kb/s
Im told it should work in Scenariest, but im not able to.
On starting Scenaries choose these settings:
Disc type : DVD Video
Layer type : Single layer
Resolution : PAL
Aspectratio : 16x9
Number of VTS : 1
btw, is there a "how to guide" somewhere to Scenarist.
Thanks

I'm having the very same problem, but the guide (although very good) didn't provided an answer for this.
Im using the following settings on tmpgenc and it doesnt work
MPEG-2 Video
720x480
4:3
29.97 fps
CBR
8000 kbits
MP@ML
NTSC
Non-interlace
4:2:0
10 bits
Highest Quality (played with this value, nothing)
Advanced:
Interlace
Bottom field first
4:3 Display
(source is DV)
GOP:
IBBPBBPBBP
#I=1
#P=3
#B=2
Output Interval: 1 GOP
Closed GOP (MyDVD and DVDit say it needs to be closed so that's why I do)
Detect Scene Change
Stream type: MPEG-2 VBR
If you are using other setting and it worked please let me know. -

change first "Non-interlace" setting you have there to "interlace" ..
some but not all dvd players may not like that gop structure ...
make sure max frames in a gop is 18 or less for ntsc and max 15 for pal .. -
Someone told me that i needed to De-mux it, before it will work, so i tried that, and after i did that with TMPGENC it worked fine, now i just have to figure out the rest of the progrm.

Jhan: De mux it? that means separating the audio and the video right? I already did that and it didnt worked.
Scenarist isnt that complex (if you follow the guide) just remember to use photoshop to create your (static) menus sometimes (not always) scenarist will accept layers as subpictures which will make your job a lot easier, that and the templates make this program a life saver. Unfrotunately this strict video format is the biggest problem I have found in it so far. -

Ok whatever german guy is trying to prove scenarist is only the industry standard and it is extremely picky with the video codec.. So far I have only been able to us a .vaf file of mpg2 to work in it, no other converters have worked, everyone says something about bitrates and all that, but to my knowledge it was all set up right and the only file type I could get to work was a vaf with no audio, then add the audio stream later,
and one more thing... the manual sucks!!! for instance what if I added a video to the first play folder but changed my mind?? it wont let me delete it..do I have to start all over???
Ohh yeah and thanx for the link, it was way better at explaining the menus...The Force is a strange and powerful thing -

it wil accept only compliant dvd raw streams - which is the same as other high end authoring programs -- its no worse or better. -
ok maybe my confusion is just exactly "compliant" means... I thought it was just bitrate.. besides all of the converters I used gave me an option for compliant DVD mpg2 and still didn't work...

Ok I finally got it working
Jan was right after you re encode your video on tmpeg you must use the "de-mux" utility (in tmpeg mpeg tools) and extract the video stream again, this is because the encoding adds a padding stream which scenarist wont recognize.
Thanks jan!
btw. I wasnt trying to prove anything, I was just mentioning jhan he shouldnt get discouraged by scenarist steep learning curve, thats all. -
Glad that you got it working, im still fighting with the menus, but im convinsed that i will get it to work.
