  1. Hi all,

I've been working on converting some home videos (rifle squad drills) to vcd. I recently purchased an AverTV Stereo card, which seems to be doing the trick. One problem. I've played with making VCD's in the past. I think I installed something that put a nine box watermark in the upper right corner of the screen. This appeared in the past when I played with making VCDs. I figured this was because I was probably using some shareware software.

The problem is, I have this brand new card, which I figured would have its own codec for MPEG2 (since its advertised on the box). The problem is I still have this watermark. The best I can figure, something is lurking in my system doing this.

Any ideas of how to fix this (short of rebuilding my whole system) ?

    Thanks for the help!

  2. Never mind, I answered my own question.

I failed to see the little "MPEGII are only available with the WDM driver under Windows" note on the box.

I guess this is software compressing. I went and downloaded the PIC MJPEG codec and it cleared it up. I don't mind forking over the $18, I just didn't have and idea what I was doing wrong!

  3. I think you were using the Elecard MPEG2 player. It puts that nine box watermark when it plays back
