I'm converting 3 seperate 45min(aprox) .vob's from a mountian bike dvd. would like some opinions on what programs to use and setting to run it at. the vob is 720x480 NTSC 29.97fps. right now when i try to convert it its very poor quality.looks better on vcd
Thanx for any help

This may not help but....
Are you using the low motion or high motion div x codec I find the low motion one best.
Also a strange one , but try a higher rate of compression I get a much clearer and steadier image if I use a data rate of 550 instead of 910 or whatever - takes slightly longer for media player to open to view and to cue etc but it looks better.
For example I encoded Pulp Fiction from vhs and the original avi and div x at 700 to 910 data rate were all similar and when viewed full screen look slightly blocky but when I compresses to 550 to fit on one CD the quality is great.
If anyone can explain (exactly) how this happens I'm interested - I have a few ideas already - but I'm comfortable in my laymans explanation - as per ignorence is bliss.
