Being fairly new to this conversion business I have found this site to be an invaluble source of information. However one thing I have come across is what seems to be a fairly new format called MP43 and have been trying for weeks to try and find a way to encode these files to Mpeg1 to turn into VCD. As have ,or so it seems, a lot of other people.
Anyway I seem to have found a cure. I hope this will help others.
I have two small programmes I use , Both are available at www.divx.com
the first is GSpot and the second and most important is FourCC Changer.
I first open the file in GSpot this shows me all the codecs in the file , i.e MP43 and MS Mpeg4v3. Close GSpot. Open 4CC Changer. Browse for the file and open it . In the description code enter 'div4' and in the Used Codec enter DIV3 , then click apply. It's as simple as that.
Look at the file again in GSpot and there is that nice Divx3 codec that we can run through TMPGenc and convert to Mpeg1.
I hope this works for you.

  3. or you could just download the mp43 codec, http://legoman666.netfirms.com/mpg4vki.zip
Time's not wasted when you're wasted all the time.
