  1. I just ripped LOTR from DVD to SVCD. I used dvd2avi and left all settings intact that are normaly loaded...

I have done this in the past.

I am trying to use a birate calculator seeing how they help greatly and notice that it has an AUDIO BIRATE setting always set at 224kbps. But my finished product shows the file at this "lotr AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps 44.1KHz"

Is this correct? How did it get to be 448??? Did I do something wrong??

Can anyone help? As there is no 448 kbps settings on birate calculators???

    THanks

Your bitrate is probably correct. The number your seeing there is the source bitrate, not the output bitrate. Your source had dolby 5.1 surround sound at 448KBs. It was dumbed down to stereo 224Kbs for the svcd. You can verify by dragging your file MPEG into most editors, and looking at it's streams. You can open it in TMPGenc using the MPEG tools

Look at it in the advanced demultiplex screen. The audio stream bitrate will be shown there.

You can find the actual MPEG on the SVCD in the MPEG2 folder.
