I've tried to make my first X(VCD).. my standalone player could access the disc and display.. however, it displayed it at the very bottom right-hand corner. Why? In Tmpgenc I selected 2500 CBR, 720 x 480, full screen(keep aspect ratio 2), source was 1:1 VGA (Divx .avi). Anyone have this problem when trying to make a high res X(VCD)?? can I only use 352 x 240? and just up the CBR? Help much apreciated.. I've been making nothing but coasters the last few days.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but xVCD does not mean you can throw absolutely anything on a CD-R. You must follow some guidelines, the primary being resolution.
XVCD NTSC
Video:
any kbit/sec MPEG-1 both variable and constant bitrate
352 x 240 pixels
29,97 frames/second
(23,976 frames/second NTSC Film)
Audio:
32-384 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2
Extra:
Menus and chapters
Still pictures in 704x480,352x240
Note that only STILL pictures can be 704x480. Your video is DVD standard. You cannot place video at that resolution on an xVCD and expect it to play.
You can place it on an xSVCD though. They support these resolutions:
352 x 240 pixels
352 x 480 pixels
720 x 480 pixels
Note, that these are all NTSC standard. You didn't specify.
Either reformat your MPEG to MPEG2, and make an xSVCD, or reduce the resolutino to 352x240. -
I had a video clip in a strange resolution and had similar problems in converting it to a VCD. I used center (custom size) option with TMPGEnc to solve it.
