MP2 / Wav audio

Quick question. I've got a DVD9 I want to put on a DVD-R and so I recoded the video to a smaller .m2v but the audio is a 1.6gb PCM 2channel wave file... I notice in TMPGENC it mentions you can store a longer movie if you use mp2 audio.. How can I get my wav to an mp2 audio file? Do I just need to convert it from .wav to .mp2? I'm only familiar with mp3 not mp2. Will maestro load in the .mp2 file? I'd like to use the mp2 audio file to save some more space as the audio file is really large at 1.6gb as it's uncompressed..

Please let me know if you guys have any ideas on this...

convert your wav to .mp2 using TMPGEnc

1.)Open TMPGEnc
2.)Click Browse next to Audio input
3.)search for your audio file and click open
4.)click on Settings
use Stereo for 192kbps and higher - joint stereo for lower than 192kbps
since the source is DVD use 48000hz
I click add error protection but it's up to you...

click ok

click Start

If you use smartripper to demux it to an .AC3 file it will be a fraction of the size, probably about 300mb.

then you can load it into an authoring program like spruce-up along with the mpeg and re-author, at least this way you keep the original sound quality

Big_Jit: Thanks for that info.. I had no idea you could use TMPGENC for that.. I'll give it a shot and report back..

spookie: I don't think that this applies to my situation because what I'm ripping doesn't have AC3 audio it has PCM 2CH audio.. It's a music video mix DVD so not AC3. So I don't believe your suggestion would help me in anyway.. but thanks for the suggestion anyway...
