Pioneer DV 343 and XSVCD

Is there anybody who has experiences w. this model and XSVCD (except of the information/overview available on vcdhelp.com)?

I´ve just created an XSVCD at 752x576 PAL bitrate 3000, using Missingmpegtools at max. settings.
VCD compliant audio sounds a little strange, the video is lala... somewhere in the middle between halfway ok, little noisy and few artefacts.

As i have no reference XSVC, i´d love to know if the player is able to handle this properly before i start playing w. my configuration...

i have a 343 and max bit rate is about 2600 i have found .. published specs here say 2500 i believe ..

720 x 480/576 is no problems .. i can get superb picture quality for compiant svcd made with either tmpgenc or cce
