So... I try to convert Memento.avi (DivX) to mpg and what happens? TMPGEnc complains about the Audio.
OK... I know this can happen, and I have read the post with solutions to this problem.
I have to "rip" the audio out first with VirtuaDub in wav format and combine the lot later.
Problem:
At the very end of saving the huge WAV audio file VirtuaDub
f.....g crashes!!!
I know that the first time i ran VirtuaDub it complained about the codecs i use, calling them "beta" or "unofficial". Is that what is causing it to crash?
Is there another program I can use to rip the audio off?
Is there another program as good or preferably a lot faster than TMPGENC ???
Thanks.

Did you set audio to full processing mode and compression to PCM audio? When I try that VirtualDub crashes after extracting 99%. When I set audio to direct stream copy and save it as an mp3 there are no crashes.
