  1. I have a PIONEER DVD 103 running on a PC which was originally taken out of an applemac G4.. its works fine.. however i need to update the firmware which i can't do because its seen as an APPLE DVDR 103 instead of a stnadard DVDr.. does anyone have any suggestions like how to DELETE the FIRMWARE and start again im open to suggestions please help..

    oh i forgot to mention i did contact pioneer and they asked me to call them so i did and was on hold for 20 minutes..

    Unless you are willing to take the drive apart and see if the firmware is in a socket, then you would have to hack the install program from Pioneer to not bail out when it sees the Apple ID string in the current firmware image.

    Even if you could get the part out, you would have to have a friend with a ROM burner.

    Why don't you sell it on eBay and use the proceeds to subsidize the purchase of a new 104?
