I have captured some video using Huffyuv @ 640x480 to make a SVCD. I want to put in some transitions, etc using Premiere 6.0
Here's the question.. how do I preview the transitions quickly? I know I can do so by using the Timeline->Preview, but it takes FOREVER to create a preview. I just want to tweak a transition to get it right, and I can't stand to wait 6 minutes between every change.
Any ideas on this? Are there settings for previewing that I am missing?
Thanks

6 minutes to preview one transition, hmmm sound like you are previewing the whole timeline. Reduce the prewview area by chaing the space of the yellow line above the timeline.

If Helmut's idea is still too slow, you can go to "project->project settings->keyframe and rendering" and change the Preview box from "From Disk" to "From RAM". This will make for some choppy previews, but I use it all the time to get an idea what a transition or effect is going to do w/out waiting for the full preview. Then when you're happy with your transition/effect settings, change it back to preview from disk for your high-quality previews.

Thanks!!! Perfect, that was the ticket. I took the advice from both of you, and now can preview, and then move on. Very nice. Thanks again.
