I'm trying to convert a MP4 from my digital camera to .avi with MP4Cam2AVI. That part worked. When I try to open it up in Adobe Premiere, I get the compression type is not supported. I looked in Gspot and the file was converted with MJPG. It does open up in AVSEdit though. Can I use Adobe Premiere? Thanks.

Do you have any MJPEG/MotionJPEG codecs installed? If you have ffdshow installed, try enabling MJPEG and Other MJPEG in "VFW Configuration" and "Video Decoder Configuration" (from the Start menu). Once you have a codec installed, see if Premiere still has problems with the video.

Before installing ffdshow, I always get confused as to what settings I should choose ffdshow to decode with. I use VLC Media player mainly to watch videos, and have done some Xvid compression stuff using Vdub, Handbrake to put stuff onto my iPhone, and that's about it. Is there anything I need to worry about or consider when installing ffdshow? Thanks.

It should work fine to install and not cause any problems with your current video software. But if you would get any problems you can easily uninstall it.
