  1. I am trying to use the tutorial for adding a VCD header to a SVCD to make my DVD player think its playing a VCD. I am having problems though. here is the link to the tutorial I am using

    http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcd

First let me give you the steps I have done:
    a) frameserve my project to tempgenc and encode a svcd. It is now saved on my hardrive

    b) open tmpgenc and go to file - mpg tools-simple multiplex tab, change type to mpeg 1, browse and find SVCD file for video/audio input

    c) click run.

I am getting error messages when burning.

    My questions are:

    1) should this procedure be used during the creation of the original SVCD encode rather than implemented after the svcd file is created?

    2) When using the steps above, when I go to burn via nero 5.5. Should I be telling it to burn a SVCD or VCD?

The reason I ask this is with either selection, I am getting messages saying the file I am trying to burn is noncomplient.
Using the VCD option - It tells me it is a mpeg 2 rather than mpeg 1
using the SVCD option- It gives me another error message saying I am trying to burn a SVCD with VCD parameters.

Any guidence from those who have used this header trick would be appreciated - Carl

    Use VCDEasy.

By VideoCD type: - select VCD. Afther that you can create BIN and CUE file.

And finally use Nero for burning.

  3. It IS noncomplaint. It is a SVCD with a VCD header. It is a Mpeg-2 video with 480*480 resoltion with a header saying it is mpeg-1! Not exactly compliant to any standard this is it!

I burn with nero as VCD and turn off compliance. It works fine on my Panasonic RV41.

  4. Hey Bugster,

One quick question on your recommendation. When I go to burn with Nero and create a VCD, I see where i can uncheck the "create standard complient CD.

But there is also a box below that says "use CDi application". Should this be checked or unchecked -Carl

  6. Thanks to everyone who helped me out. I finally got this project where I wanted it. SVCD quality, but able to be read by my non svcd dvd players.

Maybe one final question if I could.

If I want to now take this svcd tricked disc that i made and make multiple copies. Can I go ahead and just put my disc in my cdrom and do a "copy cd" ? or do I have to make each copy using neros VCD template as I did making the first copy.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped me along the way - Carl
