  1. everytime i encode my vcds from avi to mpeg1, playback is not smooth. from vcds i assume it is something to do with the conversion from avi to mpeg. i use the ntsc vcd template with high quality on and the rest are on default.

    Oxide,

This may not work, because you didn't specify what exactly is your problem. So I'm gonna go ahead and assume that it's a jerky thing or something similar to mine from other encoding projects.

OK, in TMPGEnc, do the following: "Settings", [x] detect Scene Changes
...that should help you. We've ben told to uncheck this box, but some people (myself) have problems with it unchecked, so what I do is [x] checkit!!

See if this solve your problem. Oh, if you don't want to wait for a long encode, do the following:
[x] Source Frame Range, then Dbl-click it, and move the bar at a point (will see preview) where you want to test a clip, and then press the "Set Start Frame" button, then move the bar again, to the point where you want the encode to stop, and then press the "Set End Frame" button, and then press [OK] button. ...now start your encode process,
I'd give ya specs on this process I just gave ya, but you'd crack under the pressure. - No, just kidden, it's rather tedius.

Anyways, hope this what I have given ya was the answer, and even if not, then maybe what I've just supplied above could help shave off a few hours for ya (that is, if you didn't know about this tech. before, like myself at one time ago).

    Later!!
