  1. ok i am using the mpeg 1 header trick on a svcd. They play great...but i was wondering what settings i need to use in the tmpeg encoder thing to make the quality the best it could possibly be. I read the things on the site about encoding them...i was wondering if anyone out there who is more experienced might know how to get the best quality possible, and how to make the encoding time decrease some...i have a good comp system and last night one half of a movie was like around four hours to encode.

We need to know the setting you are you using now. Such as CQ, VBR, CBR and the bitrate of the video and audio. The resolution and motion search precision would also be helpful.

  3. Ok this information is from the source clips.

    352 x 176 resolution, and 20.000 frames per sec.
Audio is 44100, stereo, 220 bitrate.

Now when i put it into the encoder this is how i set it:
    1:1 VGA
Noise Reduction Checked: (20,1,20 number settings...with high quality checked.)
CBR of 2520..highest quality Motion search.
Sharpen, ghost reduction, and simple color correction set.

    What am i doing wrong..lol.

What i would do if i were you is
    480 x 480 or 352 x 480 resolution
23.976 FPS(internally 29.970) (has to be 3:2 pulldown on the encode mode)
    128 or 160 audio bitrate
CQ, Max bitrate 2520 or more, Min 300, Quality 75-85
Put the filters you want on but remember they slow down encoding a lot.
If you need even more speed try CCE
