excuse my igmorance, bin cue?

Everywhere I see bin cue when it comes to burning. What does it mean?
Could somebody shed light on a newbie question?

im new to this too but ill try and shed some light. bin/cue files are a kind of cd image. you burn them using the cue file and the finished product is a cd of whatever is in the bin file [vcd,svcd...]
